Dawn Patrol: Bangalore's Best Day Rides

Sunrise from an 18th-century fort, granite domes at golden hour, and back in time for lunch — the breakfast rides that make Bangalore a rider's city.

You don't need a week off to ride something special out of Bangalore. Some of our most-loved outings are over before the city has finished its first coffee — dawn blasts to a fort, a lake, or a hill, and home by lunch.

Nandi Hills at sunrise

Forty curves in the dark, then sunrise above a sea of fog from an 18th-century hill fortress. It's the classic Bangalore ride for a reason. Get there before the gates get busy, and reward yourself with dosa and filter coffee on the way down.

Granite and silk at Ramanagara

South-west of the city, Ramanagara's giant granite domes — the backdrop of an old Bollywood classic — make for a short, scenic loop through silk-weaving towns and quiet backroads. Perfect for a newer rider finding their rhythm.

The best rides aren't always the longest. Sometimes they're just the earliest.

Both run best October to February, in the cool dry months. Start before dawn, and beat both the heat and the traffic.
